Karen Taylor

Senior Counsel

Before joining the professional team at Madison, Karen Taylor served as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) for the Eastern District of Virginia for 16 years before retiring in 2020. She represented the United States in a variety of civil and criminal asset forfeiture cases and received the John Marshall Award for Outstanding Legal Achievement for Asset Forfeiture from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for her work in a case involving millions of dollars of foreign assets. Prior to her work in the Eastern District, Ms. Taylor served as a Senior Trial Attorney for the Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section of the Criminal Division, DOJ, where she was responsible for successfully investigating and prosecuting asset forfeiture and money laundering cases.

Due to her extensive knowledge and expertise gained over the course of a successful thirty-six-year legal career, Ms. Taylor will provide guidance, assistance and instruction to Madison's government clients in the areas of money laundering, complex financial investigations, and the effective use of the asset forfeiture tools available by U.S. law.
